I for one welcome our new Chinese overlords. Read all comments »The rumour mill is working overtime with regards to Bank of China, and its alleged plans for a large London office.
According to real estate agents, the bank is looking at taking on an office of more than 100,000 square feet on Lothbury, just opposite the Bank of England. And according to recruiters, the rumour is that it plans to hire hundreds of people to work there.
Bank of China is denying all this. A spokesman for the bank told us they have, “No plans to move, not at this moment.” However, another employee at the bank’s current City location in Cannon Street suggests something could be underway: “It’s still in the process, we can’t definitely say we’re going to move,” she tells us.
Bank of China’s UK website reveals that they are engaged in providing a “wide range of financial market products” in London, including spot and forward foreign exchange, options, FRA, swaps, and “many other derivatives.”
